CRIMECON 2025

A Salute to CrimeCon: Where Integrity Meets Impact

As someone who's been deep in the work of true crime storytelling, I can say this with confidence—CrimeCon isn’t just an event. It’s a movement powered by people who care, and who back that care with action.

Back in 2019, I originally reached out to CrimeCon with a simple ask: I wanted to inquire about getting a booth at their upcoming event in New Orleans. I had no idea that message would lead to one of the most pivotal moments in my investigative career.

After I explained the case I was working—Nancy Moyer’s—I was contacted directly by Kevin, the creator of CrimeCon. What followed wasn’t just a greenlight for a booth. Kevin and his team committed to something far bigger: launching CrimeCon CrowdSolve, the first event of its kind, in Seattle.

At the time, Eric Roberts had not yet confessed. That came later—after Kevin and his team had already committed to making the event happen. When the confession did come—and was later recanted—CrimeCon didn’t flinch. They stayed committed. Nancy’s case remained a core focus for the first half of the event, while the second half pivoted thoughtfully to another active cold case: Karen Bodine’s homicide. Both were handled in direct partnership with the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office, and the integrity behind that decision spoke volumes.

That decision to stay the course honoring the families, said everything I needed to know about them.Their unwavering commitment to supporting the families spoke volumes about their character. They moved forward, carefully, ethically, and with real respect for the families involved. Participants signed confidentiality agreements. Sensitive materials were protected. And the entire experience felt like what it was: a collaboration built on trust, not spectacle.

To Kevin and every single person on your team, I just want to say thank you. For reaching out. For believing in what we were trying to do. And for standing behind your mission when it would’ve been easier to step aside.

As a creator, I know firsthand: vision means nothing without a team ready to row. And your team? They row hard. Every time I’ve worked with CrimeCon, whether behind the scenes or on the ground, I’ve seen nothing but professionalism, purpose, and people who truly give a damn. It’s easy to say “we care about victims.” It’s harder to design an entire event that proves it.

That’s why I’ll continue to show up. That’s why I’ll continue to support what you’ve built.

If you’ve never attended a CrimeCon event, now’s the time. And if you have, you know the energy. You know the purpose. Hide and Seek is a regular now—swing by the booth, grab a photo, and come be part of something that’s making a difference.
